The 1918 Flu Pandemic Hits Stanislaus

Docent Larry Dorman describes the experiences of Stanislaus County residents when the Great Worldwide Influenza Pandemic reached Modesto 100 years ago this October. Beginning in Kansas, over a two year time period, the flu killed at least fifty-million people across the globe, many in the Fall of 1918. The responses of the desperate victims along with the puzzled government and medical staffs are a big part of this story. Come learn how this tragic event affected residents of Stanislaus County.
