StaniStory: Change and Continuity in Stanislaus County
StaniStory: Change and Continuity in Stanislaus County is a survey history of the county. Originally released in 2023, a revised (Second Edition) was released in 2025.
We recommend reading the Second Edition of the book. It is an epic exploration into our community’s collective cultural identity. Click on “Second Edition” for a free download. The Assessments and Activities packet and Answer Key are separate free downloads.
StaniStory is based on the original 1941 landmark work by Joseph Burton Vasché, and is the first update in more than forty years to a local county-wide history curriculum. Created for third-grade teachers to guide their students through, the book is also appropriate for use by older learners (including adults!). The selection includes post-reading assessments and activities.
Hardcover or soft cover versions of the book are available for purchase. StaniStory is a gift to be shared with current and future generations of local residents! Contact the McHenry Museum today to order your copy today.
We hope you enjoy StaniStory,
Keith Highiet & David Seymour
